The Company collects personal information about individuals who have an interest in the property of organisations managed by the Company. These include strata corporations, community and neighbourhood associations, home unit companies and private dwellings.
The policy of the Company is that personal information must only be collected, disclosed and used by it for the purposes of managing the affairs of those organisations, according to the laws to which they and the Company are subject. In particular, the Property Stock and Business Agents Act 1941, Strata Schemes Management Act 1996, the Community Land Management Act 1989, Residential Tenancies Act 1997 and any other associated Acts that require the collection of personal information about those individuals.
These purposes may include:
- The protection, maintenance and repair of the property
- The insurance of the organisation and the property
- The raising and distribution of moneys
- The election of representatives
- The enforcement of by-laws and other applicable laws
- Compliance with the requirements of statutory and judicial bodies
- The making of decisions about the organisation's affairs
- The collection of rent and various outgoings from tenants
- The collection of information relating to the sale or lease of a property
For these purposes, personal information may be disclosed other persons, owners and representatives, statutory and judicial bodies, and professional advisers, agents and contractors of the organisation.
Whenever reasonable and practicable, the Company will collect personal information about an individual only from that individual.

If personal information required by relevant laws is not provided by an individual, then the individual may suffer certain disadvantages, according to those laws. In particular, the individual may not be regarded as an owner or tenant of his or her premises for the purpose of the organisation's affairs, and may be unable to participate in decisions about the organisation's affairs, or may not be advised of his or her responsibilities and rights.
